We are Ryan and Stephanie. We live on a small homestead in Michigan with our six children where we can be found chasing chickens and ducks, tending our 5000 sq ft garden, nurturing a handful of fruit trees, and finding ways to steward the land, animals, and people God has put into our care.
Stephanie grew up in a small town, learning how to garden and can from an early age. Her desire for homesteading came in 4th grade after reading Little House on the Prairie but it wasn’t until she hit her 20s that this passion took hold. After facing significant health challenges with their firstborn, Stephanie threw herself headlong into a more holistic lifestyle. This naturally lead to the life their family currently lives.
Ryan, on the other hand, came to the homesteading life by very different means. While he was along for the health journey their family faced, it was theology that won his heart over. It has been through many years of study (and two Bible degrees) that Ryan came to understand the love God has for His creation and the responsibility He has placed on mankind to tend and care for it.
Over the past handful of years, we have observed a major hole in the homesteading world. We have seen homesteaders worship creation instead of the Creator and the Church neglect the earth and all that is in it because “it’s all going to burn anyway.”
We are on a mission to create a robust Biblical worldview within the Church and within the homesteading community. Why should we care about this world we live in? Our goal is to merge homesteading and theology in a way that brings about a clear understanding of our responsibilities toward creation.
Our hope is to show you just how much God cares for His creation (that includes you!) and what we as people can do to steward what He has given us.
Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate it and tend it.
